Nautilus

by Jenna Plewes

In the quiet room
windows yawn and stretch,
curtains beat great white wings
tugging at the tethers.

She leans forward
wide open in the arms of a new day.

The nautilus shell lies
in the humped dunes of the bed
a glistening mouth
chambered in coils of silk.

Chambered in coils of silk

in the humped dunes of the bed
the nautilus shell lies
wide open in the arms of  a new day.

windows yawn and stretch
in the quiet room.
